Our current model focuses on induction of chronic airway epithelial hyperplasia and metaplasia inducible by viral infection as well as structure-function of the E1A oncoprotein. Key words: Apoptosis, epithelial cell hyperplasia, respiratory virus, mucosal immunity, EGF receptor, interferon signal transduction, airway diseases.
