Our Nationally Recognized Team for Cancer Care
Siteman Cancer Center is a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and a national referral destination for advanced, complex cancer care. WashU Medicine physicians at Siteman are subspecialized by disease and supported by multidisciplinary teams, enabling:
- Precise diagnosis
- Rapid treatment planning
- Access to clinical trials
- Access to advanced therapies
The Referral Process
With expert knowledge across cancer types, the care coordinator serves as a single point of contact from referral through consultation.
From the time you submit your referral, care coordinators will initiate the review your patients’ records. They route documentation to the right WashU physicians and experts. This is the first step in our multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Physicians evaluate:
- Office notes
- Previous treatment records (especially for trial options)
- Pathology slides
- Outside imaging
Once our team has had a chance to thoroughly review your patients’ documents, a member of the scheduling team will contact the patient to set up an appointment and begin treatment.
This detailed process makes all the difference. Our experts dedicate time to ensure that your patient’s first appointment and treatment plan is tailored just to them.
If you’d like to hear about the care your patient is receiving, please reach out to our care coordinators for updates on their treatment.

Meet Our Providers
Siteman brings together physicians and researchers at WashU Medicine and the strength of BJC HealthCare to deliver coordinated, multidisciplinary cancer care. Our teams are subspecialized by disease and work collaboratively to ensure each patient receives a precise diagnosis, a clearly defined treatment plan, and access to advanced therapies and clinical trials when appropriate.
Your patient will be guided by a team that includes medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, and specialized oncology nurses – aligned around delivering the right treatment from the start.
Clinical trials are research studies that help us find new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. If you have a rare or complex diagnosis or your treatment path seems uncertain, you might qualify for a clinical trial.
Our team will help you find a study that is right for you. Call us to speak with a Siteman care coordinator.
