Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities (PECaD)
Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and WashU Medicine leads the Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities to fulfill the community outreach and engagement requirements for NCI-designated cancer centers. Our mission is to assure that all cancer patients and communities benefit from the clinical and scientific advances at Siteman to reduce the cancer burden and related disparities, while engaging communities to promote health equity across Siteman’s catchment and beyond.
Outreach and Education
PECaD offers a number of classes that can enable you to help us reduce cancer disparities. You can also fill out an event request form.
Research Opportunities
We have tools available that disseminate local data on social determinants of health and cancer care to our clinic and community partners.
Training and Education Opportunities
We offer both community and academic training and education opportunities.
Clinical Trials
PECaD’s Clinical Studies Outreach Program promotes diversity in clinical trials through accrual monitoring, patient and provider education, and community outreach.
Data and Resources
Siteman Cancer Center DASHboards (Data and Statistics Hub) is a collaborative working group led by Siteman’s Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities. It includes members from WashU Medicine and BJC HealthCare with expertise in cancer registries, clinical operations, cancer epidemiology, statistics, clinical oncology, clinical trials, and informatics.
