Eric C. Leuthardt, MD, MBA, Neurosurgeon from Siteman Cancer Center, discusses how the most meaningful part of his job is working with patients. They are his North Star and the reason he strives in both science and clinical care. He explains that they are the reason he stays up late, continues to learn, and works closely with his colleagues, because the opportunity to impact someone’s life during some of their most frightening and difficult moments is a true privilege and an honor. He believes this connection is ultimately what makes us human. Every day, he not only has the privilege of caring for his patients, but also learns from each one, seeing every interaction as a chance to grow and make a meaningful impact on the world.
