Research Interest

Dr. Slade’s current research is focused on cellular immunotherapy and plasma cell dyscrasias, including multiple myeloma and its precursor states. His laboratory-based research is focused on understanding mechanisms of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell failure in patients with multiple myeloma, including tumor evolution, modulation of the immune microenvironment and CAR T cell exhaustion. His clinical research is focused on the role of autologous stem cell transplant in multiple myeloma and on advanced methods of disease monitoring following myeloma treatment, including ultra- sensitive next generation sequencing, flow cytometry and mass spectrometry.
